About Jessica

Jessica grew up in Colorado running cross country and playing soccer, but she was always enamored with all things tropical and tiki. At 18 she moved to California and received a BA in Marine Biology at the University of San Diego. She met her husband Kalon and the two of them built a home in rural Mexico and enjoyed many years of surfing and beach living.

When it was time to start a family, the pair moved to Oceanside, California and had two beautiful daughters. Wanting to set a strong example for her kids and pursue a healthy passion in her free time, Jessica dusted off her running shoes and signed up for a half marathon. What was supposed to be a one-and-done race turned into a lifetime passion. To date, Jessica has run 50 half marathons, 5 marathons, and countless smaller distance races. Cross-training for running naturally led to an interest in triathlons and a higher level of competition. Jessica has completed in dozens of sprint and Olympic distance triathlons (regularly landing a spot on the podium as a top three finisher) four half-Ironman races, and has her sights set on a full Ironman in the future.

A fortuitus turn of events led Jessica and Kalon to their now forever home in Canyon Lake, California, a vibrant community centered around outdoor living and lake life. It was here that they fully fell in love with tiki culture as the new house offered a perfect space for a home tiki bar. Jessica began slowly transforming The Space Coyote Tiki Bar and Lounge into an idyllic hideaway inspired by traditional tiki spaces from the past and present. This artistic expression organically led to the evolution of the Miss Tiki Triathlete brand as Jessica realized a desire to make her tiki bar creations available to others. With nearly a decade of experience working with resin, Jessica aims to bring whimsical, colorful, and innovative designs to her boutique tiki lamps.

Daily life for Jessica is a balance of work, training for the next upcoming race, and managing the day-to-day schedule of her very busy family. Immersive tiki life is a family affair and Jessica tries to involve the kids whenever possible. The girls love to help with lamp builds, learning how to create kid-friendly tiki mocktails, and planning the family's annual trip to Tiki Oasis. When you purchase from Miss Tiki Triathlete you are bringing a piece of the family's heart from their home to yours, because every creation is made with a fiery love for all things tiki and the community born from it.
